books are still good

books worth reading

‘my beautiful idol’ by pete gall -  i love pete’s honesty in this book. its helping me process my own beautiful idols. this book is really a joy and pleasure to read.

‘reaching out’ by henri nouwen – reshaping the way i approach relationships and honesty and the desire for constant attention and activity. it is a joy to see a different way God dreams for us to approach living and breathing with others. i am super excited about this one.

‘Jesus for president’ by shane claiborne and chris haw – its beginning to make me rethink how beautiful america really is. for better or worse. there is a Kingdom. for sure a great discussion starter in this time of political chaos and confusion. i got only half-way through this one before i got distracted. surprise surprise.

‘mere christianity’ by c.s. lewis – an intense but simple look at what it actually means to be a Christian and be Christian in the midst of imperfection. come explore it with us during sunday school sometime.

‘contemplative youth ministry’ by mark yaconelli – allowing me to flee from anything resembling normal youth ministry. i keep trying to finish this book but my boss keeps stealing my copy because he keeps giving his away. to people who cant read english. welcome to my life.

‘i am not but i know I AM’ by louie giglio – wow. seriously. if it wasnt a sin i would be jealous of his wisdom and disection of the Word.

‘sex God’ by rob bell – a seriously awesome exploration of the connections between sexuality and spiritualality, because this is really about that (i stole that line from the book).

‘the pursuit of God’ by a.w. tozer – delicious.

‘irresistable revolution’ by shane claiborne – a painfully honest look at what it might look like to actual follow the Jesus of the Bible and live accordingly.
